Matthew Menchel, one of Kobre & Kim’s lead trial lawyers and the director of the firm’s Center for Trial Advocacy, addressed issues relating to the U.S. government’s ramped-up efforts in prosecuting international tax evasion cases at the International Litigation, Arbitration & Transactions Conference presented by the Florida Bar International Law Section.
Jonathan Cogan, a lawyer with significant experience litigating joint venture disputes in the hospitality space, will lead the panel discussion titled “Common Pitfalls in Joint Venture Agreements” at the inaugural Americas Lodging Investment Summit Law Conference for in-house counsel and law firms that represent real estate investors and developers.
Lead trial lawyer and Director of the firm’s Center for Trial Advocacy Matthew Menchel gave a presentation at STEP Bahamas, “U.S. Tax Enforcement Across International Borders — A Discussion of the Raoul Weil Trial.”
Together with the New York Law Journal, members of Kobre & Kim’s internationally recognized investigations practice evaluate the initial steps to take in establishing a plan for conducting an internal investigation, as well as privilege and attorney work product rules and what may not be considered protected pursuant to a foreign jurisdiction’s privilege and privacy laws.
Andrew Lourie participated in ACI’s Anti-Corruption Conference on October 16 in Miami. Mr. Lourie and his co-panelists presented on the panel “How Directors and Officers Can Be Held Liable for Corruption Violations.”

On September 10, 2013, Kobre & Kim’s Center for Trial Advocacy held its third annual trial advocacy program, highlighting nationally recognized trial lawyers Dan Webb of Winston & Strawn LLP and Matt Menchel of Kobre & Kim.
The Asian Lawyer and Kobre & Kim presented two webinars on the Challenges of international judgment enforcement, focused on the interplay between onshore and offshore jurisdictions, in particular China, the British Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands.
