William F. McGovern, Randall Arthur, and Shaun Z. Wu, based in the firm’s Hong Kong office, presented at the InnoXcell Asia Symposium 2015. This symposium is the largest and most comprehensive legal and regulatory compliance conference in Asia and was attended by more than 400 in-house legal and compliance executives, corporate directors, lawyers, and other professional services individuals in the region.
Kobre & Kim lawyers covered topics such as cross-border disputes, asset tracing, and international government enforcement, including:
- a presentation by Mr. McGovern on the prospect of U.S. tax enforcement coming to Asia with an analysis of the U.S. government’s international investigations and prosecutions against tax evasion and the impact on financial institutions and their employees in Asia;
- an examination of cross-border asset tracing and recovery by Mr. Arthur, who explored the various tactics and tools available in different jurisdictions and the development of global strategies for successful asset recovery; and
- a presentation on multijurisdictional disputes, during which Mr. Wu led an in-depth discussion on the planning and implementation of cross-border dispute resolution strategies and the interplay among U.S., UK, China, Hong Kong, and various offshore jurisdictions, including the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.
