Following a successful win earlier this year, when Kobre & Kim obtained court appointment of a mother as the legal guardian of her 24-year-old intellectually disabled daughter, our pro bono team just landed another victory for our client. This month, we successfully gained asylum in the U.S. for her and her children who fled Honduras over a decade ago.

After her mother's death, our client's cousin, a co-owner of the property, demanded that our client begin paying rent. When our client rightly refused, her cousin filed a complaint in King's County Supreme Court.

International investigation and dispute resolution law firm Kobre & Kim has won a landmark victory for creditors in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Dubai Court of Cassation issued a final decision unwinding the transfer of shares by the debtors to a family member, even though the transfer took place before the issuance of a final judgment confirming the debt owed to Kobre & Kim’s client.

In an important ruling that makes it easier for global bondholders unilaterally to sue issuers and guarantors in New York for nonpayment without a trustee, a New York court has allowed a lawsuit brought by BFAM and other global bondholders against Chinese property developer Glory Health to move forward.

On September 29, 2023, Kobre & Kim’s pro bono team worked with Human Rights First to successfully gain asylum for their client C, helping her and her three young children escape gang violence in Honduras.
In a win for the CEO and general counsel of Better Mortgage represented by Kobre & Kim, a New York federal judge significantly reduced the scope of a lawsuit against them brought by a former executive, as reported by Law360.
