Government Enforcement Defense and Insolvency Teams Receive Top Marks From Chambers

Chambers & Partners has again recognized Kobre & Kim and a number of the firm’s lawyers for outstanding achievements in the categories of Corporate Investigations/Anti-Corruption, Dispute Resolution, and Restructuring/Insolvency. The publication also ranked the firm for its work in China.
Kobre & Kim was recognized for another consecutive year for its practice relating to corporate investigations and anti-corruption. Clients have characterized the firm as “very discreet” and one that provides “more personalized attention than at other firms.”
Former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement lawyer William McGovern and former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor Vasu Muthyala were both recognized for their work in corporate investigations and anti-corruption.
Interviewees characterized Mr. McGovern as a “first-rate investigations lawyer” who has a “good sense of international litigation issues and cultural sensitivities.” Others noted that he is “incredibly knowledgeable about the possible impact of investigations or regulatory inquiries on companies.” Interviewees praised Mr. Muthyala for “his knowledge of regulations in India and the US financial sector,” which he uses to advise Asia-based clients involved cross-border disputes, particularly those involving U.S. government authorities.
Randall Arthur was ranked for another consecutive year for restructuring/insolvency and for the first time for dispute resolution. Peers described him as an “experienced and commercial” lawyer and a “very well-respected and capable litigator.” He was recognized for representing Blue Square in a Hong Kong High Court case arising out of an alleged breach of contract in relation to the client’s acquisition of a manufacturing business.
