U.S. Federal Prosecutor Michael Keilty Joins Kobre & Kim

September 5, 2023

NEW YORK, September 5, 2023 – Kobre & Kim, an international disputes and investigations law firm, has announced that former Eastern District of New York (“EDNY”) Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Keilty has joined the firm to enhance its International Private Client (“IPC”) offering. He will be based in the firm’s New York Office but is expected to travel regularly to the firm’s other offices serving IPC clients, including Dubai, Tel Aviv, Cyprus, Hong Kong and London, among others.

Mr. Keilty joins Kobre & Kim after an eight-year tenure with the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”). While at the EDNY, Mr. Keilty focused on international investigations regarding national security and cybercrime. He also served as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General.

As a prosecutor, Mr. Keilty worked on national security and cybercrime investigations involving money laundering, securities fraud, export control violations and the Foreign Agent Registration Act. As Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Keilty advised on cyber-related matters, from criminal investigations to cryptocurrency and the cybersecurity of federal networks. During multiple overseas trips as a U.S. prosecutor, Mr. Keilty engaged with senior foreign law enforcement officials, judges and prosecutors. He has also conducted multiple criminal trials.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Keilty worked in private practice, focusing on complex commercial litigation. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he also served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army for seven years, which included tours in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

Mr. Keilty’s arrival strengthens Kobre & Kim’s global IPC offering, which assists ultra-high-net-worth clients facing political and legal adversity. “I was attracted to Kobre & Kim’s international footprint and out-of-the-box ability to operate in challenging and unconventional situations,” said Mr. Keilty.

Michael Kim, co-founder of Kobre & Kim, said, “Our IPC business has seen significant demand given the current insecurity prevalent across the world. We are grateful to have Michael Keilty join our team.”
