Kobre & Kim has awarded the first-ever annual scholarships to Chinese law students in a ceremony at our Shanghai office, aiming to support the education of talented young legal minds in China.
Four students from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Koguan School of Law and the Fudan University Law School were awarded RMB 20,000 each and offered opportunities for paid internships in Kobre & Kim’s Shanghai office.
Kobre & Kim’s Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific Lian Lian pointed out that in China, knowledge of foreign law, especially intellectual property law, has fallen short of meeting the legal risks stemming from China’s growing overseas investment. As a result, Kobre & Kim created the scholarship to “help China cultivate a reserve of talent familiar with overseas laws,” Lian explained.
