In alternative investments, credit strategies can boost portfolio returns, but success often depends on managing enforcement risk—the ability to recover value from corporate or individual assets when trades go wrong. To explore the complexities of these proceedings, Vincent Yiu will be speaking at a luncheon hosted by the CFA Society Hong Kong, titled “Unlocking Value from Distressed Credit Through Creative Enforcement Strategies: A Global Perspective.”
Mr. Yiu will be sharing his insights on traditional legal tools and innovative out-of-court recovery strategies that have proven effective in distressed credit scenarios. Drawing on his experience, he will examine a U.S. bond default case involving a typical onshore/offshore corporate structure and discuss enforcement strategies designed to unlock the value of distressed onshore assets that are otherwise inaccessible to offshore bondholders. Mr. Yiu will also explore litigation and recovery mechanisms that can help investors maximize value realization against ultra-high-net-worth individuals with global asset footprints tied to similar credit instruments.
CFA Society Hong Kong is a non-profit organization looking to raise the professional and ethical standards of financial analysts and investment practitioners through advocacy and continuing education efforts.
