Shaun Z. Wu Discusses Legal Risks in Commodity Financing at the Asian Banker Summit

Shaun Z. Wu, based in Kobre & Kim’s Hong Kong office and a key member of the firm’s disputes and investigations team in China, discussed how to avoid and handle legal disputes arising from international financing transactions at the International Transaction Banking Convention, a major conference of the Asian Banker Summit. 

During the panel titled “Guarding against financial crimes: Lessons learned from the Qingdao metal scam,” Mr. Wu shed light on the alleged commodity financing scam of Qingdao Port in China in 2014. He also discussed prelitigation strategies for international lenders to safeguard their interest when disputes arise out of complex cross-border transactions and how these lenders can manage multijurisdictional disputes and enforcement against debtors.
