Robin Baik on Cross-Border Enforcement of Foreign Judgments at Seoul NYSBA Global Conference

The globalization of commerce and international relations has led to an increase in cross-border litigation, making the enforcement of foreign judgments a critical issue for legal systems worldwide. Kobre & Kim’s Robin Baik will share his insight at “Bridging Borders: Challenges and Innovations in Cross-Border Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in South Korea, China, and the U.S.,” a New York State Bar Association Global Conference panel in Seoul on October 16.

Mr. Baik will be joined by distinguished judges from South Korea, China and the United States to explore the complexities, challenges and innovative solutions in the enforcement of foreign judgments across different legal landscapes. They will conduct a comparative analysis of enforcement practices and legal standards in South Korea, China and the U.S., and discuss the challenges in achieving reciprocity and mutual recognition of judgments. The panelists will discuss the impact of cultural, legal and procedural differences on enforcement outcomes, as well as innovative approaches and best practices for improving cross-border judicial cooperation. Finally, they will explore future trends and potential reforms in the enforcement of foreign judgments.

The discussion will be moderated by Hyun Suk Choi of Choi & Park, and Mr. Baik's co-panelists will be Changhyun Lee of Bae Kim & Lee, Gary Gao of Zhong Lun Law Firm and the Honorable Sidney H. Stein, District Judge of the United States District Court, Southern District of New York.
