Rebecca Hume and Adriana Riviere-Badell tackled international cross-border legal issues at the HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference taking place in Miami.
Cayman Islands-based litigator Rebecca Hume reviewed the most effective strategies for U.S. in-house counsel seeking to enforce or defend against high-value international judgments or arbitration awards. The March 31 panel “Enforcing or Defending Against High Value International Judgments and Arbitration Awards” explored the options for effectively and globally pursuing judgments involving distressed debtors or companies in bankruptcy, as well as litigation financing, litigation insurance, judgment/arbitration award brokering and specialized enforcement.
Adriana Riviere-Badell, who focuses her practice on international judgment enforcement and asset recovery, moderated the April 1 panel “You Can Run but You Can’t Hide: Asset Tracing and Asset Recovery Around the World.” Panelists discussed recent developments in cross-border asset tracing, recovery and enforcement that demystifies the process of tracking assets in historically secretive jurisdictions.
