Kobre & Kim's Michael Ng recently headlined a IP Link live broadcast to business and IP leaders in China, addressing insights on how artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies have changed intellectual property protection in the global markets.

He noted the shift in emphasis from patents to trade secret as the primary protection for AI innovation, addressing how both innovators and implementers must now be prepared for fast-moving trade secret disputes. He discussed how trade secret claims can disrupt supply chains and other cross-border commercial relationships, strategies now being used to move disputes into courts with more powerful remedies, and the potential for litigation involving global damages.

Mike also discussed the Protecting American Intellectual Property Act, and the likely coming wave of United States sanctions against companies accused of trade secret misappropriation.

The program brought together Chinese business and intellectual property professionals to discuss the increasingly complex landscape facing companies whose technologies, data and trade secrets span multiple jurisdictions. Michael shared perspectives on navigating cross-border enforcement challenges, protecting valuable intellectual property assets and managing disputes that require coordinated strategies across key global markets.
