This year’s Dubai Arbitration Week proved a tremendous success, with Kobre & Kim’s team participating in several events.
Kobre & Kim lawyers from Dubai, British Virgin Islands, and London hosted “Riding the Waves of Enforcement: An interactive offshore and onshore asset recovery simulation” on November 12. Led by Kobre & Kim’s Paul Hughes, Emily Beirne, Mark Rowlands and Nada Oteifi, the event produced practical insights and hands-on engagement with the complexities of cross-jurisdictional enforcement. The team shared their insights on the challenges of enforcing offshore judgments in onshore jurisdictions, and the opportunities presented by strategically leveraging cross-border enforcement. Kobre & Kim’s Richard Clarke also spoke at ThoughtLeaders4’s FIRE Middle East 2024 “Bridging the Gap Between Onshore and Offshore Jurisdictions" panel, to share insights on his recent experience in sequencing onshore United Arab Emirates and offshore common law court insolvency remedies to support asset recovery campaigns.
