Kobre & Kim attorneys Jalil Asif KC and William McGovern will explore international wealth structuring and cross-border litigation at STEP Cayman’s 2019 International Wealth Structuring Forum.
Offshore lawyer Jalil Asif KC will demonstrate practical application of wealth structuring topics in a mock trial exercise on January 31. Serving as the mock judge, Jalil will work with fellow industry experts to highlight themes of the day including: family disputes; international financial centers; and international trust law.
On February 1 William McGovern, who has extensive experience in cross-border government enforcement, will join the panel “Whither Privilege? – Attorney client confidentiality in the Cayman Islands, the USA, and the UK,” which will evaluate the state of attorney-client confidentiality in cross-border investigations involving offshore jurisdictions. The panel will discuss recent court decisions and the risks weakened privilege create for stakeholders.
