Evelyn Sheehan on How Public-Private Partnerships Aid Asset Recovery for Victims of Crypto Fraud

August 1, 2022

The nature of the crypto space can make it difficult for users to recover their assets when subject to fraud. However, public-private partnerships have the potential to mobilize effective domestic and international recovery strategies.

On July 26 in Washington DC, Chainalysis hosted CryptoDC: the Chainalysis Public Sector Summit, with over 300 industry-leading experts from the public and private sector who have demonstrated success in investigating and recovering crypto and other virtual assets. Kobre & Kim’s Evelyn Sheehan, a former U.S. prosecutor focused on international asset recovery, spoke about the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors when trying to maximize asset recovery for victims of crypto fraud. Ms. Sheehan was joined by Dani Haston, Head of Global Asset Management at Chainalysis and TJ Abernathy, Public Sector Chief Operations Officer at Asset Reality.
