Kobre & Kim Earns Top Recognitions in Chambers USA New York Rankings

Kobre & Kim and several lawyers have been recognized in the latest Chambers USA rankings for New York, placing among the top firms and lawyers in several categories for commercial, white-collar and financial litigation.

Litigation: General Commercial: Highly Regarded

Kobre & Kim placed in Band 1 for this category.

Chambers describes the firm’s “prominent” practice as providing “individual and institutional clients with top-flight representation in high-profile commercial disputes as well as criminal and regulatory investigations.” The publication adds that Kobre & Kim “is increasingly commended for its handling of complex multijurisdictional and international disputes on behalf of a broad client base,” and “the firm offers particular strength in asset recovery and arbitral enforcement matters, as well as representation of trustees in financial products litigation.”

The publication also quotes testimonials on how the firm ensures that clients are “regularly updated on all matters” and "input is consistently accounted for". Others praise Kobre & Kim as “brilliantly innovative” with litigators who are “bold and have no hesitation in making new law.”

Michael Kim and Danielle Rose are also both individually recognized among the top litigators in this category.

The publication notes Ms. Rose’s “particular strength in cases relating to complex financial products,” highlighting testimonials lauding her as “thoughtful, smart and successful at changing folks' minds even when she's going against the grain", and as a "a tough litigator" who "keeps her eyes on the prize."

Securities: Institutional Plaintiffs: Mainly RMBS Litigation

Zachary Rosenbaum was also ranked in Band 1 in this category. Noting his handling of “high-value securities matters for institutional investors, banks and broker-dealers,” Chambers quotes testimonials praising Mr. Rosenbaum as “practical, good on his feet and zealous in his advocacy”, and as “strategic and very experienced.”

Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations: The Elite

Kobre & Kim has maintained its ranking from last year in Band 2 for this category.

Chambers notes the firm’s criminal defense offering is “complemented by extensive cross-border expertise and courtroom experience,” and that Kobre & Kim “regularly defends clients from proceedings conducted by bodies such as the SEC and CFTC” and is noted “for its handling of complex multijurisdictional disputes on behalf of a broad client base.”

Testimonials note that Kobre & Kim’s lawyers “excel at complicated white-collar matters,” and "are really good at complex, multi-jurisdictional, high-stakes litigation and investigations."

Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations

Founding partners Michael Kim and Steven Kobre have maintained their Band 2 positions for this category.

Chambers notes Mr. Kim or his “impressive experience handling major cross-border investigations involving fraud and asset forfeiture” and “in a range of complex criminal disputes,” with testimonials praising him as a “very effective trial lawyer.”

The publication notes Mr. Kobre "counsels on complex criminal and regulatory investigations, as well as high-stakes commercial litigation", highlighting testimonials lauding him as "smart, strategic and creative in coming up with new solutions."

Sean Buckley also earned recognition as one of the top lawyers in this category. According to Chambers, Sean "leverages his experience as a former DOJ prosecutor to expertly advise clients on complex investigations and litigation. Antitrust

Both Kobre & Kim and Benjamin Sirota are recognized among the top firms and practitioners in this category.

Chambers praises the firm’s “strong practice in the antitrust space,” pointing out that “the team is particularly skilled in handling issues involving multiple jurisdictions,” has “considerable experience of engaging with the DOJ and the FTC,” and is “renowned for their ability to advise on international cartel cases.”
