Chambers USA Legal Guide 2025 Recognizes Kobre & Kim and Multiple Global Lawyers

Kobre & Kim and several lawyers have been recognized in the latest Chambers USA rankings across a variety of categories.

Our recognitions this year include:

Antitrust in New York

The firm was recognized as boasting “a strong practice in the antitrust space,” with a team that is “particularly skilled in handling issues involving multiple jurisdictions. The group has considerable experience of engaging with the DOJ and the FTC. Its practitioners are renowned for their ability to advise on international cartel cases.

Benjamin Sirota was recognized as a “super sharp, diligent and hard-working lawyer [who] thinks outside of the box [and has] a deep understanding of the intricacies of antitrust law.”

Bankruptcy Litigation in New York

Kobre & Kim earned a spot in this category, highlighting the firm’s “established presence in the New York bankruptcy market” and possession of “notable cross-border capabilities.”

Daniel Saval was also recognized in this category, “regarded for his litigation practice” and frequent involvement in “highly contentious matters concerning restructurings and asset recovery.” He was described as a “very smart and effective” lawyer.

Corporate Crime & Investigations in USA - Nationwide

Kobre & Kim was ranked in Band 1, recognizing the firm’s work as a “prominent boutique with particularly notable teams in New York and Florida.”

Derivatives: Enforcement in USA - Nationwide

Jonathan D. Cogan was placed in Band 1 for demonstrating “notable expertise on derivatives enforcement matters, particularly on matters relating to market manipulation and spoofing.” 

One respondent told Chambers: "Jonathan is excellent and we would look to work with him again."

Institutional Plaintiffs (Securities) in New York

Zachary Rosenbaum again was ranked in Band 1 for his work representing institutional plaintiffs. 

Chambers recognized him for handling "a number of high-value securities matters for institutional investors, banks and broker-dealers." One respondent described him as “an excellent litigator and trial adversary who has a creative vision to accomplish his client's goals.”

Intellectual Property: Trade Secrets in USA - Nationwide

 Kobre & Kim earned a place in Band 2, highlighting the firm’s success in winning “a $604.9 million trade secrets verdict on behalf of its client, Propel Fuels.”

The firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Disputes team was noted for its ability to combine “outside-the-box thinking with creative solutions to aggressively pursue strategy,” alongside “excellent client service, [being] highly responsive and attuned to their client’s needs.” Another observant described the team as “incredibly mighty. They come out with huge wins.”

International Arbitration: Enforcement in USA - Nationwide

Michael S. Kim was ranked in Band 1, noting he is “the person you want to talk to when you want to enforce the judgment.”

Litigation: General Commercial Litigation in New York

Kobre & Kim was recognized in this category for providing “individual and institutional clients with top-flight representation in high-profile commercial disputes as well as criminal and regulatory investigations.” The firm was commended for offering “particular strength in asset recovery and arbitral enforcement matters, as well as representation of trustees in financial products litigation.” noting that “the entire team is fantastic.

Danielle Rose earned a spot in Band 2, describing her as “brilliant, meticulous and strategic,” as well as “creative” and “an exceptional strategist.” One source that worked with Ms. Rose said “we are incredibly pleased with [her] leadership and skills,” while another said: “Danielle is just an unbelievable lawyer.”

Michael S. Kim was also recognized and described as “smooth, talented and battle-ready,” as well as “an incredible strategist and tactician.”

Litigation: White-Collar Crime and Government Investigations in Florida

Kobre & Kim was ranked in Band 1, describing the team as “very experienced,” providing “effective defense counsel for criminal and enforcement matters.”

Matthew I. Menchel earned recognition as a Star Individual, noting how he “continues to win praise from all corners of the market for his representation of clients facing investigation by the DOJ and SEC.” Mr. Menchel was also described as “incredible in front of a jury” and “one of the best white-collar criminal lawyers in the country.”

 Adriana Riviere-Badell and Evelyn Baltodano Sheehan were placed in Band 2, describing Ms. Riviere-Badell as a “zealous advocate for her clients” and Ms. Baltodano Sheehan as “the guru of forfeiture work.

Litigation: Trial Lawyers in the U.S.- Nationwide

Matthew I. Menchel was ranked in Band 1, describing him as “an excellent trial lawyer and incredible in front of a jury.” Another respondent described Mr. Menchel as “one of the best white-collar criminal lawyers in the country.”

Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations in New York

Kobre & Kim was placed in Band 2, recognizing the firm for its “criminal defence offering complemented by extensive cross-border expertise and courtroom experience, as part of a broader commercial practice.”

 Michael S. Kim and Steven G. Kobre earned spots in Band 2, describing Mr. Kim as “an awesome lawyer” and Mr. Kobre as “one of the anti-money laundering gurus.
