Hong Kong-based William McGovern shared with the Hong Kong Lawyer an overview of the latest developments in anti-bribery and anti-corruption legislation in Asia and what we can anticipate happening during the remainder of 2015.
During the interview, Mr. McGovern discussed how China and Hong Kong have shown huge efforts to tackle bribery and corruption, highlighting the APEC Forum in Beijing and Hong Kong’s anti-corruption investigations case against former Chief Secretary for Administration Rafael Hui. Assessing the impact of involvement from international organizations looking to increase the profile of anti-corruption issues, Mr. McGovern explained, “There is likely to be a convergence of standards and best practices coming out of the involvement of these globally focused organisations, a prime example being the ACT-NET information sharing network in the Asia-Pacific region.”
