Publication: Anti-Corruption Report
In her eponymous Monaco Memo, U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced a number of changes to DOJ policies, including how the Biden administration will weigh the costs and benefits of imposing a corporate monitor. Speaking with the Anti-Corruption Report, Kobre & Kim’s Wade Weems outlined expectations for an increase in the use of monitorships.
Mr. Weems, who regularly counsels corporations and individuals in internal investigations stemming from U.S. government enforcement actions, indicated that the administration considers monitorships to be important part of corporate resolutions, and that they are likely to be used more often by prosecutors and enforcement agencies.
