Lian Lian on COVID-19, cross-border trade disputes, and other global challenges facing Chinese companies in 2020

July 8, 2020

In advance of Kobre & Kim’s participation in this year’s China International Import Expo (CIIE), Managing Director of China Lian Lian sat down with event organizers to discuss the firm’s decision to attend one of the year’s biggest cross-border trade events, which features importers from every province in China and across every industry.

Lian emphasized how the COVID-19 pandemic will create and uncover complex disputes and misconduct beyond the world’s traditional Western financial centers, from bankruptcies involving stakeholders from multiple jurisdictions around the world to increasing intellectual property clashes in the biomedical field.

With its accounting for US $57.8 billion in transactions and representation of 180 countries and regions around the world, Lian says that CIIE “offers a great opportunity” for Kobre & Kim to understand the concerns of China-based, globally-facing companies, as well as share its own relevant experiences and insights as a strategic partner.

“Given these complex legal challenges on the horizon for both Chinese and foreign companies in China” Lian stated,  “Kobre & Kim is more committed to the China market than ever before.”
