Whether victims of fraud are at the beginning stages of their suit or in the middle of a contentious insolvency or litigation process, monetizing claims against debtors has proven difficult—particularly when multiple jurisdictions are involved. Hong Kong-based Kobre & Kim lawyers John Han and Randall Arthur will take to KNect’s Asset Recovery Asia conference in Singapore on May 14th to explore the steps clients can take to successfully close the net on fraudsters and recover their assets.
Mr. Han will speak on a panel entitled “How to Choose the Right Legal Route with Limited Information,” where he will lay out strategic decisions clients can make early in their case about which recovery route to choose, as well as the various circumstances that impact their decision to file for insolvency or to litigate themselves.
Mr. Arthur, drawing from his extensive experience litigating complex fraud matters and cross-border commercial disputes in Asia, will speak on the panel “Forum Shopping in Insolvency as a Result of Fraud.” He will focus on the benefits of combining asset recovery and tracing tactics in tandem with insolvency litigation to target a debtor’s offshore assets as part of large-scale, cross-border recovery plan.
