Kobre & Kim co-founder Steven Kobre joined the New York State Bar Association’s Managing Partner Roundtable on January 21, 2021 to discuss how law firm managing partners are combatting the multifaceted challenges posed by COVID-19. Mr. Kobre joined fellow managing partners from McGuireWoods, Steptoe & Johnson, Boies Schiller Flexner, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, Ropes & Gray, Robinson & Cole and Hogan Lovells.

Though COVID-19 continues to affect all aspects of life, the panelists expressed optimism about the possibility of returning to the office sometime in the near future. Mr. Kobre and his fellow panelists addressed not only the practical challenges created by the pandemic, such as a need for near-constant communication, but also how the sudden and dramatic shift will continue to inform firm practices going forward.

As covered in the New York Law Journal, the managing partners will take these lessons into account when considering return-to-office policies throughout this year. In particular, Mr. Kobre indicated that challenges will arise when the workforce is split between in-person and remote working, and that productivity will increase unevenly for those who remain apart.
