Kobre & Kim Strengthens Asia Investigation Team With Another Former U.S. Government Lawyer in the Hong Kong Office

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Vasu Muthyala who joins the firm’s Asia Government Enforcement Defense team.

Vasu brings to the team a breadth of experience advising multinational corporations and financial institutions, as well as corporate executives and government officials on global investigations involving securities/commodity futures violations, regulatory compliance, money laundering, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) allegations, among others. He is particularly focused on Asia-related matters and was recently recognized as a top lawyer by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Global Investigations Review.

Vasu spent more than a decade with the U.S. government. As a senior prosecutor in the Fraud and Public Corruption Section of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, he specialized in corporate and securities fraud and financial crimes relating to the financial crisis and economic recovery efforts. He also served as an enforcement lawyer at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Chicago.

Prior to joining Kobre & Kim, Vasu practiced at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he was a member of the white-collar defense and corporate investigations practice.
