
Edward Smith is an accomplished barrister who represents international private clients and their advisors in developing and implementing cross-border strategies to defend their reputations and privacy. In particular, he handles disputes involving defamation, privacy law and harassment that have a nexus to the United Kingdom and across Europe.
Mr. Smith has extensive experience in media and communications law, representing institutional clients – including media publications – in disputes involving freedom of information, reporting restrictions, data protection, copyright and other freedom of expression matters.
Before joining Kobre & Kim, Mr. Smith trained at 5RB and practiced at Payne Hicks Beach. Earlier in his career he worked in the UK Parliament as the coordinator of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Extraordinary Rendition.
