Wade Weems Teams Up with Heywon Shin to Present on Voluntary Disclosure

May 29, 2019

Kobre & Kim’s Wade Weems, a former U.S. federal prosecutor who specializes in cross-border criminal cases and U.S. government enforcement action, partnered with Heywon Shin, the Vice President of Global Economic Sanctions for Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Hong Kong) to deliver key paths and examples on voluntary self-disclosure.

The presentation, titled Voluntary Disclosures: How to Meet Government Requirements When, and What to Disclose, and is a program highlight at ACI’s 2nd Annual Hong Kong Summit on Economic Sanctions Compliance and Enforcement on May 30th.

Global companies must constantly evaluate their risk, especially after a year of significant sanction developments and penalties from many governments, and the summit offers valuable perspectives and lessons on how to handle these global evaluations, as well as the broader landscape for sanctions and enforcement.  Weems and Shin will take a deep dive into the issues surrounding not only voluntary self-disclosure, but also conducting internal sanctions investigations and what to consider when making disclosures to OFAC.
