Robin Rathmell on the Legal, Commercial and Reputational Risks for UHNWI’s with Forbes

Kobre & Kim’s Robin Rathmell sat down with Forbes to discuss the idea that for ultra high-net Worth Individuals (UHNWI’s), “with great wealth comes a legal and societal target on your back.” As a part of the firm’s International Private Client practice, Rathmell shared his experience mitigating legal, commercial and reputational risks for clients in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

“For UHNWI clients,” Rathmell said, “a maligned reputation often signals deeper threats to their liberty and even their assets,” with individuals facing politically motivated press attacks one day and a government-ordered freeze on their assets the next.

Beyond resolving legal and business litigation issues, Rathmell said, strategic counsel can provide guidance on philanthropic and community outreach: “In our view, clients should embrace the special responsibilities that come with success and develop a unique profile that enhances their image and helps them achieve even greater business success.”
