On November 18, 2025, Kobre & Kim welcomed leading practitioners and China-focused legal professionals to its São Paulo office for an in-depth discussion titled “The Brazil-China Playbook: From Award to Recovery.” The session, led by John Han, explored the complexities of navigating disputes and judgment enforcement matters spanning Brazil and China.
Participants worked through a hypothetical Brazil–China joint venture dispute to examine the practical considerations that often determine the trajectory of cross-border matters. Discussions addressed how forum selection and choice of law play out, the challenges involved in taking control of PRC-based companies, and the role of asset structures and transfers, including PRC blocking and circular mechanisms, in shaping enforcement strategy. The group also analyzed the strategic pathways available for monetizing awards and claims in cross-border situations.
