Though China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has opened up investment and development opportunities for Chinese companies – including state-owned enterprises (SOEs) – around the world, recent geopolitical events have highlighted the international risks these companies face. Kobre & Kim’s Shanghai-based Jason Kang and Jian Wu explore risk management strategies during a virtual event at 9:00 am Shanghai time, August 20, 2022.
The session, “Risks Management for Chinese companies’ overseas investments under China’s Belt and Road Initiative,” will delve into issues stemming from conducting internal investigations and responding to government enforcement issues stemming from Western authorities and multilateral development banks such as the World Bank. Mr. Kang and Mr. Wu will also look into specific strategies Chinese companies and senior management can deploy to navigate risk and avoid pitfalls.
