Farrington Yates Chairs INSOL International Panel on Fraud and the Pandemic
September 15, 2020
As the pandemic threatens the survival of countless businesses around the world, many struggling to stay afloat may find themselves accused of fraud. Join Kobre & Kim’s Farrington Yates as he chairs a panel on this very topic, hosted by INSOL International at 1:40pm EDT, September 17.
The panel will discuss how, like the 2008 financial crisis, the commission and discovery of fraudulent activity has increased during the pandemic. They will look into the psychological causes of fraud, as well as likely scenarios where fraud may take place, such as the sale of personal protective equipment, cyberattacks and via transfers of assets. The panel will then examine some appropriate responses, including legal responses like litigation.
The session, “Fraud and the Pandemic: the Limits of Doing Anything to Survive,” will feature Babajide Ogundipe of Sofunde, Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore; Dr. Alexander Stein, founder of Dolus Advisors and a principal in the Boswell Group; and Sarah Wheeler, the Head of the Anti-Money Laundering Division at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
