Danielle Bateman and Jesse Fender on Managing Complex National Security Investigations at InfraGard Philadelphia Event
June 1, 2026
Kobre & Kim’s Danielle Bateman and Jesse Fender will present at InfraGard Philadelphia’s Annual Day of Information Sharing on June 5, 2026. Their session, “Investigating and Prosecuting the Perfect Threat Storm,” explores how multi-faceted threats—combining thefts of trade secrets, sophisticated cyber threat actors, cryptocurrency, an internal investigation gone awry, sanctions exposure, and financial crime—are investigated and ultimately prosecuted.
Ms. Bateman and Ms. Fender bring significant frontline experience from the U.S. Department of Justice, where they handled complex national security and cross-border enforcement matters. Danielle most recently served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the National Security & Cyber Section in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as a trial attorney in the DOJ’s National Security Division, leading investigations involving cybercrime, sanctions and export control violations, and cryptocurrency-linked offenses. Jesse spent over a decade as a federal prosecutor, including in the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where she handled cases involving terrorism, sanctions, money laundering, and transnational criminal enterprises.
Drawing on this experience, they will outline the lifecycle of a case involving the theft and monetization of sensitive national security-linked trade secrets, and examine how overlapping risks—from insider threats to foreign adversary involvement—can complicate corporate response strategies.
The session will highlight practical lessons for organizations facing similar risks, including how to structure internal investigations, manage cross-border exposure, and effectively coordinate with enforcement authorities.
